1914                 Benoist Airboat Model XIV:  World's first scheduled heavier than air passenger transport

1914                 Pensacola becomes first Naval Air Station in U.S.

1927                 Pan American World Airways founded

1929 - 1931      Charles Lindbergh scouted new routes for Pan Am in the Caribbean and Latin America

1931                 Pan Am begins operations at Dinner Key             

1931 - 1946      Pan Am Clippers:  the Golden Age of Flying Boats 

1934                 Eastern Air Lines founded

1935                 Pan Am Clipper:  first trans-pacific commercial flight

1937                 Amelia Earhart departs Miami Municipal Airport in Opa-locka in Lockheed Electra

1939                 Embry-Riddle Civilian Pilot Training Program established in Florida

1941                 Pan Am Clipper:  first around the world commercial flight

1941 - 1980     Jackie Cochran:  first woman to fly bomber across Atlantic, head of the WASPS, numerous records & awards

1941 - 1945      RAF pilots train in Clewiston and Carlstrom Florida

1942                 Doolittle Raiders train at Elgin Air Force Base

1942 - 1944      7333 B-17 pilots  train at Hendricks Army Airfield

1942 - 1945      N.A.S. Richmond:  U.S. Navy Airships patrol Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico for submarines

1943                 Pan Am Clippers:  Roosevelt becomes 1st President to fly abroad

1944                 Tico Belle flew at D Day

1944                 U.S. Navy K-class Airships complete 1st trans-Atlantic crossing by non-rigid ships

1946                 National Airlines DC-4s:  first airline to fly non-stop Miami to New York

1946                 Pan Am:  Lockheed Constellations placed in service

1950                 Cape Canaveral:  First rocket launched

1955                 Piper Aircraft begins operations at Vero Beach

1958                 National Airlines Boeing 707:  first airline to operate domestic jet flights 

1961                 Cape Canaveral  Freedom 7:  Alan Shepard becomes first American in space

1962                 Kennedy Space Center construction begins

1974                 First Sun 'n Fun fly-in held

1981                 Kennedy Space Center:  First space shuttle launch

1984                 Kittinger first pilot to balloon solo across Atlantic setting world distance record

1993                 NOAA Hurricane Hunters based at MacDill AFB

2010                 Cape Canaveral:  First Falcon 9 launch (SpaceX)

2022                 Kennedy Space Center:  First private space mission to ISS
